A “What to do” moment: gift giving and children’s responses

December 8, 2012 at 4:22 PM 1 comment

Is there anything as fantastic as the look on a child’s face when they open a gift they really wanted? Then there is the look every adult fears, that other expression!

We all have seen it and attempted to avoid it. How can parents help their child prepare for the inexpected not so special gift? Do you have any suggestions as to how you have handled this situation?

It is the adult’s responsibility to understand kids are going to say it as they see it, so don’t sweat it. The parent knows you tried.
