As the holidays approach sometimes the child within us surfaces

I used to allow my son to open gifts that arrived from out of town relatives before Christmas.
This tradition started shortly after he caught me opening my gifts from out of town relatives!
We would open, try on, check out and carefully rewrap them. We would then act surprised and happy when we open them on Christmas day.
Do you have a family tradition willing to share?
