Treasure Hunt, Seek and Find, or Hide and Go Seek

(This can be used at all ages, from the very youngest child party up to pre-teens.  Just make the rules more difficult for the older children to keep it interesting, challenging, and fun.)

Hide and Seek (is much like an egg hunt).  You can hide various objects according to the theme, announce the perimeter of the game, and allow kids to search.  Additional ideas: set a timer , give special pretend glasses for the kids to wear, look for certain colors that will be theirs to keep, bring back to a container before looking for one more object.

Treasure Hunt: This can be used for the older kids, create clues to lead them to their “treasure” .  The birthday child may want to make this up according to what he /she knows their friends will find fun. Additional ideas: Use geographic terms to guide to the treasure; (on the north side of the room, walk south 10 steps, etc), clues can also be intentionally confusing, so kids really need to think it  through, or it can be written in code and give the key to the code so that the kids are able to understand the clues.  This game can be done at home or outdoors (backyard or park).  It can also be done as partners or teams.
